African American Bone Marrow Awareness Month Legislation approved. (July)

U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA) co-sponsored the resolution before the Senate and it was passed unanimously.


U.S. Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick introduced ABMW' proposed national resolution for an African American Bone Marrow Awareness Month to the House of Representatives.  

African American Bone Marrow Awareness Day in Michigan. June 3, 2006 Governor Jennifer Granholm issued a proclamation to ABMW for a Statewide Recognition.

Martell Rise Above Award.  Received by John January 2005 for founding ABMW as well as the significant impact on an intentional, rigorous education & recruitment campaign of potential donors in the Southeast Michigan region.

National Humanitarian Award.  National Association of Letter Carriers recognized John's commitment to educating and recruiting potential donors.
